Welcome Box

When a host family welcomes a new au pair into their home, they receive a Welcome Box from Cultural Care designed to support a smooth and positive start to their journey together.

This box is filled with helpful information, activities, and resources that aim to help the host family and au pair build a strong foundation for communication, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding. From planning tools to games, each item was created to guide and enrich their relationship.

Welcome Boxes may arrive up to two weeks after the au pair arrives. Please note that families extending with their same au pair will not receive a Welcome Box or any additional mailed materials.

What's inside?
For both host family & au pair

  • Welcome Letter – Explains everything included in the Welcome Box.

  • Family Activity – A card game to jumpstart cultural exchange and bring the au pair and host family together.

  • Host Family & Au Pair Communication Journal – A shared tool to help host families and au pairs stay organized and aligned throughout the year. Includes monthly and weekly planning pages for the full year. A QR code on pages 2–3 allows users to download or print additional planning pages as needed.

  • Social Security Tips – A helpful resource to guide both the host family and au pair through the Social Security number application process.

  • Au Pair Hult Courses – Information about discounted educational opportunities through Hult International Business School to help au pairs fulfill the education requirement.

  • Kids First Postcard – Background on the mission of Cultural Care Kids First Foundation, recent grants, and ways to learn more and make a positive impact on children in need around the world.

For the host family

  • Host Family Handbook – A go-to guide with essential tips, best practices, and an overview of program rules. Download handbook.

For the au pair

  • Au Pair Journal – Space for the au pair to reflect, doodle, and record memories of their time in the USA.

  • Au Pair Letters – A series of letters designed to be opened at different points during the program year, offering encouragement, information, and inspiration.

  • Au Pair Activity Poster & USA Map – Fun activities to enjoy with host kids for extra laughs and lasting memories. Download poster.

Welcome Box requests

If a customer shares that they have not yet received their Welcome Box, please first check the 2026 fulfillment schedule or the 2025 fulfillment schedule to determine if a replacement box is needed.
